School Schedule
The Community School is unique because it is designed to incorporate both the classroom setting and independent study days. The school year starts late August and ends in June.
Students attend early school on the following schedule:
Tuesday
Student attends class at The Community School campus from 8:25 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
Student is taught at home by the parent (Home Teacher) and follows the pre-prepared lesson plans. Hours of schooling vary from 3 to 5.5 hours, depending on grade level.
Parental Involvement
Parents are required to assist on campus throughout the year. Parents are asked to serve in other areas to minister to the school. Some of these include:
- Chapel
- Maintenance of facility
- Classroom setup
- Serving as Teacher Assistant
Curriculum
General elementary subjects are taught using primarily A Beka and Bob Jones University Press Curriculums. The School carefully selects textbooks that reflect the School's philosophy of education.
